Welcome to the BCFW Avant Garde Design Challenge 2026, presented during BCFW Rize as part of Boston Caribbean Fashion Week Season 13. By submitting an application, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
Each applicant must submit:
Only one design concept may be submitted per designer.
All submitted concepts and final garments must be the original work of the designer.
Designs must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, patents, or intellectual property rights of any individual or organization.
Any submission found to contain copied, plagiarized, or unauthorized work will be immediately disqualified.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel selected by Boston Caribbean Fashion Week.
Entries will be evaluated based on:
A maximum of eight (8) finalists will be selected.
The judges' decisions are final.
The design submitted during the application process is the design that will be evaluated for selection.
Once selected, finalists must produce and present the approved design concept.
Minor adjustments to fabrics, trims, colors, or construction techniques are permitted during production.
Participants may not replace their approved design with an entirely new concept after selection.
Significant design changes require written approval from Boston Caribbean Fashion Week.
Failure to obtain approval may result in disqualification.
Selected finalists are required to submit a non-refundable and non-transferable participation fee of $50 USD.
Failure to submit payment by the stated deadline may result in forfeiture of the finalist's position.
Boston Caribbean Fashion Week reserves the right to invite an alternate designer if a finalist withdraws or fails to meet competition deadlines.
Each finalist is responsible for:
Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in removal from the competition.
The official BCFW Beauty Team will provide hair and makeup services for the competition.
Designers will participate in a required consultation to discuss the creative direction for their runway presentation.
Designers retain full ownership of their original designs.
By participating, designers grant Boston Caribbean Fashion Week and VStyle Productions permission to photograph, film, livestream, record, publish, and promote their submitted work, completed garment, runway presentation, likeness, and related materials for marketing, educational, archival, publicity, and promotional purposes without additional compensation.
One winner will be selected by the official judging panel.
The winner will receive:
Boston Caribbean Fashion Week reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal value if necessary.
All participants are expected to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully toward fellow designers, models, volunteers, judges, sponsors, venue staff, and production personnel.
Harassment, discrimination, abusive behavior, or conduct deemed detrimental to the event may result in immediate disqualification.
Boston Caribbean Fashion Week reserves the right to modify schedules, deadlines, judges, production timelines, venue location, or competition procedures if circumstances require.
Applicants will be notified of any significant changes.
While reasonable care will be taken, Boston Caribbean Fashion Week and VStyle Productions are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to garments, accessories, materials, personal property, or equipment brought to the event.
Participants are encouraged to insure valuable items.
